I was recently blessed with the opportunity to go to the Azores. Beforehand I hadn’t heard of this place. Looking it up it seemed like paradise so I was excited to go. It was one of those places where the pictures practically take themselves.

As a people the Portuguese who live on the island come across as very accommodating and helpful. Even if they don’t speak English. We rented a car and I loved driving on around on the island. Coming from a very flat country it never became boring to drive on the highways through hills and mountains. Every corner afforded a breathtaking view. In the cities you will quickly become comfortable with narrow streets, but the locals drive carefully when navigating them. The only bad thing I can really say about the island is that it seems to be a completely Pepsi free zone.

Being an island you will come across many seafood restaurants, and if you visit the island São Miguel I highly recommend visiting the place called Marisera. It was one of the most memorable food experiences of my life.
